What makes an outstanding workplace today?
The answer is no longer contained within the
four walls of a building.
As the workplace continues to evolve, so too does our
understanding of what makes a truly successful office.
Location, connectivity and the quality of the surrounding
environment have become increasingly important, alongside
thoughtful design, sustainability, adaptability and the
experience of the people who use the space.
The BCO Awards give us a unique opportunity to see these
qualities in practice. Our judges visit workplaces across the UK,
spending time with occupiers, landlords and project teams,
experiencing buildings as they are intended to be used.
It is this first-hand approach that makes the BCO Awards
such a valuable benchmark for our sector.
The 2026 Awards highlighted the growing importance of
well-connected locations and the role workplaces can play
in supporting their wider communities. The judges also saw
existing buildings being successfully reinvented and technology
used intelligently to improve both performance and the
occupier experience.
They saw sustainability becoming increasingly embedded
in the way projects are conceived and delivered, rather than
being treated as a separate consideration. The best workplaces
demonstrate that environmental performance, commercial
success and an excellent user experience can – and should –
go hand in hand.
Every year, the BCO Awards provide a fascinating snapshot
of where our sector is heading. They celebrate not only
exceptional buildings but the collaboration, ambition and
ingenuity of the teams behind them.
If your project has something to contribute to that story,
we want to see it.

like in 2027. Enter the BCO Awards.
