Project
information
IMPORTANT
If available, please also include a project outline
as an appendix to your submission.
As part of your submission, you will be required
to complete an executive summary, project data
and project costs & areas section directly within
the online entry portal.
Please do not include a full set of building plans.
Usually a plan of basement, ground and typical
upper floor will suffice, unless the upper floors
differ significantly.
The executive summary and project data sections
provide the judges with a concise overview
of your project and its key facts, metrics and
outcomes, while the project costs & areas section
captures the detailed cost and area information
required for assessment.
If your entry involves refurbishment, it is important
to include before and after images in your main
application document to illustrate the scope of
refurbishment that has been undertaken.
You will also need to upload your main project
document in PDF format, which forms the main
part of your submission and must address all
of the judges’ questions set out in this guide.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
As the judges access the project information mainly
on their mobile devices during their judging tours,
they ask to keep the file size of the main document
to a minimum. Please bear in mind each judge will
be considering between 30-50 entries.
Please make sure your main submission document:
- does not exceed the maximum file size of 20MB
- includes between 5-10 photographs
- is a maximum of 25 sides of A4 long (including
images), Arial 11 font size with black text and
a white background.
PROJECT DATA to be completed online
Please complete the project data fields to provide the
judges with a concise snapshot of the key facts, metrics
and outcomes relating to your project.
Complete all fields relevant to your project.
A - Aims & Enterprise
B - Design & Accommodation
Your submission should help the judges understand
the original brief, the decisions that shaped the project,
the challenges encountered and the difference the
completed workplace has made.
Use images purposefully to support your story. Select
photographs, plans and diagrams that explain the
project and demonstrate the points made in your
submission, rather than using imagery simply for
presentation.
Make sure to tell the story of your project.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY to be completed online
Provide a concise overview of your project,
highlighting its key achievements and why
it is worthy of a BCO Award.
Your executive summary must not exceed 200 words.
The executive summary is a mandatory field and must
be completed directly within the online entry portal.
Use bullet points where requested and keep within the
character limits shown.
Some information may also be requested elsewhere
in your entry. Please provide it in each section where
requested, as project data will be used by the judges as
a quick-reference overview of your project.
